Our Goals for Sunday Administration
We have two goals for Sunday Administration: (1) To welcome and greet the saints, visiting guests, and newcomers; and (2) To support the elders and music steward in their oversight of the worship service.
1. To welcome and greet the saints, visiting guests, and newcomers.
This direction is given to us in Leviticus 19:34.
“You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”
The Lord told Israel to reach out to newcomers and welcome them. After all, they themselves knew what it was to live in a strange country where the language and customs were foreign and they were missing home. God wanted Israel to remember always how that felt so they would welcome the stranger within their gates. Likewise, as an embassy on earth for the heavenly Kingdom of God, we desire to welcome strangers and sojourners from the world inside the “gates” of our local church.
2. To support the elders and the music steward in their oversight of the worship service.
This is based on 1 Corinthians 11:17.
“But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse. . .”
Although 1 Corinthians 11:17 is a negative verse, introducing Paul’s criticism of the Corinthian practice of sharing in the Lord’s Table (1 Corinthians 11:17–34), this verse serves a positive function in the life of our church. Whereas the Corinthians failed to edify one another when they gathered for corporate worship, we desire our gatherings to be positive and upbuilding. Therefore, under the leadership of the elders, the Sunday Administration team will seek to make Sunday worship a positive and edifying experience for all who come, to the glory of God.
Our Structure for Sunday Administration
To accomplish our two goals, we have established an intentional Sunday Administration structure. In this structure, the elders will oversee our Sunday Administration.
Our Sunday Administration Steward is Jenny Hawkins.
